IPL 2025 Resumption Confirmed After Brief Suspension

The IPL 2025 season faced a brief suspension due to rising cross-border tensions between India and Pakistan. The suspension came into effect right after the Punjab Kings vs Delhi Capitals match was halted midway on May 9 in Dharamsala.

After discussions with government officials, security agencies, and stakeholders, BCCI decided to resume the tournament. This announcement ends speculation about the IPL shifting to the August-September window.

Impact on Team India and Overseas Players

This extension raises concerns about Team India’s preparation for the upcoming England tour, starting June 20. A few Test players were scheduled to play three four-day matches with the India A team prior to the five-match Test series.

There’s also uncertainty around overseas players, particularly Australians and South Africans, as they prepare for the World Test Championship Final on June 11 at Lord’s. Players like Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins may skip the IPL restart to stay home and train.
